Diploma in Interior Design Level 6 – SCAAD College

The Diploma in Interior Design Level 6 at Sanuk College of Arts and Design (SCAAD) is a comprehensive programme designed to equip learners with advanced skills and knowledge required to design, develop, and manage professional interior design projects for both residential and commercial environments. The course is equivalent to the third year of an undergraduate Interior Design degree, giving students a strong academic and practical foundation for higher studies and industry success.

This competency-based programme prepares learners to conceptualize, visualize, and execute interior design solutions effectively and cost-efficiently. Students gain hands-on experience in concept development, interior communication, interior costing, project management, interior finishing, soft furnishing, lighting design, furniture and fixture development, material science, colour theory, ICT integration, acoustic design, building components, fittings installation, and design fundamentals. In addition, the curriculum covers advanced design theory, sustainability practices, space planning, building codes and barrier-free compliance, design history, advanced 2D & 3D visual communication, construction drawings, and architectural millwork.

Learners benefit from industry-based faculty, modern studios, and real project exposure that strengthens their technical and creative abilities. The course also emphasizes commercial design in sectors such as hospitality, offices, hospitals, residential spaces, and retail environments, ensuring students gain practical competence for diverse professional opportunities.

Upon completing the Diploma, graduates are well-prepared for employment in the interior design industry or to advance to the Bachelor of Interior Design programme. Students who previously completed the Certificate in Interior Design Level 5 automatically qualify to progress into this Diploma.


Entry Requirements

To enroll, learners must have one of the following:

  • KCSE Mean Grade C- (minus)

  • Certificate in Interior Design Level 5

  • KNQA Level II or equivalent qualification

  • Any other requirements as guided by relevant regulatory bodies

  • Personal and professional development: You’ll have opportunities to improve your skills through bespoke sessions, talks with industry practitioners and postgraduate seminars.
  • Access to Chelsea’s shared workshops: These include ceramics, casting, laser cutting, photography, audio-visual editing, metal and woodwork.
  • Critical Thinking Skills: You will learn more skills on Critical thinking and brainstorming.

Industry Experience and Opportunities

Students will be invited to take part in a ‘Live’ project competition to design to an external client’s brief. The client type, programme and opportunity will vary each year. Students are encouraged to attend trade fairs, exhibitions, conferences and other industry events to network with professionals.
