Architectural Draftsmanship Level 5 – Programme Overview (SCAAD College)

The Architectural Draftsmanship Level 5 programme at Sanuk College of Arts and Design is carefully designed to equip trainees with the technical, creative, and professional skills required to work as competent Architectural Draftsmen in both architectural firms and the construction industry.

This competency-based programme prepares learners to interpret architectural concepts and transform them into accurate, detailed drawings, models, and design presentations used in real-world building and construction projects.

Students gain hands-on experience in:

✔ Producing Digital Architectural Models

Learners are trained to create 2D and 3D digital models using industry-standard software. They develop the ability to visualize architectural spaces, generate accurate layouts, and present concepts digitally for clients and construction teams.

✔ Producing Physical Architectural Models

Trainees learn how to construct scaled physical models that showcase building structures, interiors, and landscapes. This helps them understand proportions, materials, structural forms, and aesthetic presentation techniques.

✔ Applying Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Drawing Techniques

Students acquire advanced skills in drafting using CAD software such as AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, and SketchUp. They learn to develop architectural plans, elevations, sections, and detailed working drawings used in construction documentation.

✔ Architectural Landscaping

The course covers the integration of outdoor spaces into architectural design. Learners explore landscape planning, site analysis, vegetation selection, and how environmental factors influence design.

✔ Designing Architectural Interiors

Students are introduced to interior architectural principles including space planning, material selection, lighting design, color theory, and the ergonomic layout of interior spaces.
